The Neck:

An Azure Dragon Constellation

Key Star: Kappa Vir (Kappa Virginis)

The Neck has four stars. Ancient Chinese Astrologers called it K'ang. When the moon passed through this constellation, they saw Portents. For example when the constellation shone clearly, it meant fidelity among ministers and peace in the country. A portent might be:

It is unlucky to undertake construction work on this day. If a large house is built it would fall down and a man could lose his authority. No marriages ought to be contracted nor funerals lest someone drop dead while attending.**

Early Arabian Astrologers called the Neck, Al Ghafr. Their Portent would be:

Favorable for extracting treasures, digging pits, helps divorce, discord, the destruction of houses and enemies, and hinders travelers. With Moon here, unfortunate for anything.*

In ancient India, Astrologers called the Neck Svati. Their portent would be:

A mutable asterism belonging to the butcher caste and favorable for commencing work of an impermanent or moving character. Those born on the lunar day will be weak, abstemious, skilful, fond of animals and changeable in friendship. With Moon here at birth native will be quiet, polite, self-controlled, skilful, kind-hearted and charitable. Rules rice fields and the breast.
